Three approaches can be highlighted in the maintenance of a windmill: scheduled maintenance; predictive maintenance; and corrective maintenance.

 

·    Scheduled maintenance programs involve the following points:
Daily inspections, monthly inspections, minor overhauls, major overhauls.

 

·    Predictive maintenance includes the following critical points:
Thermography, vibration analysis, oil analysis.

 

·    Corrective maintenance includes an initial phase of action and risk analysis, then implementation, and follow-up reports.

The main faults that occur are:

blade failures; faults in the multiplier; generator faults; damages due to vibration; hydraulic system failures; control malfunctions; faults in the electrical output system; and problems arising from ancillary works.
